Get Ready for another Weekend on Pine Island

SATURDAY, FEB. 19 –
Start your day early with the Matlacha Hookers Breakfast & Bag n Tag at the Pine Island Moose Lodge (Stringfellow Road, St. James City). Pancake breakfast – 8 – 11 AM, Bag n Tag/Rummage sale 8 AM – 2 PM. No early arrivals. Breakfast $6 per person. Shop the rummage sale – fill a grocery sack with clothing for $5/bag; shop household items and more. Proceeds go towards the Hookers’ scholarships.

Pine Island Garden Gala takes place at Phillips Park, at the 4-way intersection of Pine Island & Stringfellow Roads. 9 AM – 2 PM, with native & tropical plant sales, free seminars & garden advice, bake sale, food, music, handicrafts, raffle, and more. Proceeds benefit the Pine Island Garden Club’s scholarship fund, maintenance of MOTI gardens, and the “Nature Park” at Phillips Park.

Pine Island VFW, Stringfellow Road, St. James City, hosts an auction, 12 noon – 4 PM. Many items to bid on, plus raffles, food and beverage for purchase. Proceeds benefit VFW programs.

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia, hosts its annual “Rummage Sale” in the parking lot, between 8 AM and 2 PM. If you can’t find it at the Hookers’ “Bag n Tag” sale, you might find that elusive item here!

Visit the art galleries and restaurants during the weekend. If you missed a gallery last weekend during the “Florida’s Creative Coast Weekend”, get out and stop and shop this weekend. Less crowded, but just as much to see and purchase.
If the weather’s right, get out on the water – fish, kayak, sightsee. Tarpon and trout are coming in!

Music this weekend can be found at the following locations:Bert’s Bar & Grill, Bubba’s Roadhouse & Saloon, Pine Island VFW, Pine Island Moose, Miceli’s, Pine Island Elks, Toucan Seafood Restaurant, Coast Connection, Olde Fish House, Bokeelia Cracker CafĂ©.

Remember to mark your calendar for the monthly Chamber Breakfast next Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Pine Island Elks Lodge, 7:30 – 9 AM. Guest speaker will be Robert Cohen, Regional Security Director for SW FL International (Ft. Myers) Airport. RSVP – 239-283-0888.
